General Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, the Homebound/Home-Based Teacher provides in-person instruction to students who are unable to attend school due to medical (homebound) or disciplinary (home-based) reasons. The teacher collaborates with classroom teachers and the Out-of-School Support Program to ensure continuity of instruction, monitors student progress, maintains required documentation, and communicates regularly with school staff and families.
Essential Duties
- Provide in-person instruction in student homes or other approved locations.
- Deliver instruction aligned with classroom assignments and learning objectives.
- Maintain accurate attendance, progress, and instructional records.
- Communicate regularly with school staff, students, and families.
- Implement accommodations and modifications as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must possess a valid Virginia teaching license and a valid driver's license. Special Education endorsement and availability during the regular school day are preferred. Candidates must be able to provide in-person instruction at student homes or other approved locations, use instructional technology effectively, communicate clearly both orally and in writing, work independently, and maintain confidentiality.
Terms of Employment
This is a part-time, hourly position. Compensation will be based on the School Board-approved rate for Homebound and Home-Based Teachers. Assignments will be determined based on student needs and division requirements.
