GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

 

Under the guidance of the Chief Academic Officer, the K-12 English Curriculum Specialist plays a pivotal role in supporting administrators with literacy initiatives across the division, including the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI). This position is tasked with ensuring the achievement of the district’s mission and goals. Collaboration with various departments is crucial to maintain consistency in practices and resource utilization, as the specialist works diligently to enhance the skills and knowledge of school administrators. The role typically involves independent work, with performance assessed based on core performance standards.

Must hold a Master’s degree or higher, with a licensure endorsement in elementary or secondary education; a minimum of (5) years of teaching experience in English/reading. An endorsement as a reading specialist is preferred but not required.
